The Department of Basic Computer Studies provides the first level of tertiary education for every all students' theoretical and practical learning experiences. Students who successfully pass English, Math, Computer Organisation, Computer User Skills, Algorithm Design, Introduction to System Administration, Introduction to System Analysis and Introduction to Programming receive a one-year National Certificate. The National Certificate is the foundation, upon which the student is able to choose a specialization for a National Diploma.
Essentially, first year students learn a variety of skill preparation for one of three IT academic areas:
- Business Computing.
- Computer Systems and Networks.
- Software Engineering.
Our main goal is to educate students with the necessary academic understanding and technological proficiency, which are in-line with Namibia's industry requirements and national needs and supports.
